Privacy Policy

Last updated August 14, 2026

A short version: Sophia is for parents. We use assignment content to create explanations, avoid collecting child-identifying information, never sell personal information, and give account holders controls to delete their history.

Who this policy covers

This policy explains how Sophia Educate handles information when a parent or other adult uses sophiaeducate.com. Sophia is not intended for children to create their own accounts. A parent or guardian should supervise every upload.

Information we collect

Account information

Name, email address, sign-in method, verification status, timezone, learning preferences, credit balance, and security records.

Assignments and attempts

Text, images, and documents you choose to upload, together with generated explanations and the level you open. A submitted attempt is sent for analysis; it is not retained as a separate attachment after the review completes.

Technical and transaction information

Basic request, device, security, usage, and error data; PayPal order identifiers and credit ledger entries. Sophia does not receive or store your full card or bank details.

How we use information

  • Provide, save, and improve homework explanations.
  • Authenticate accounts and prevent abuse.
  • Deliver verification emails and service notices.
  • Process purchases, maintain the credit ledger, and respond to support requests.
  • Measure reliability and investigate errors with access limited by role.

Service providers

ProviderPurpose
OpenAIAnalyze assignment and attempt content and generate structured explanations.
SendPulseSend account verification emails.
GoogleProvide optional Google sign-in.
PayPalProcess optional credit purchases.
Infrastructure providersHost the application, database, backups, security logs, and domain services.

These providers process information under their own terms and security practices. We share only what is needed for the service used.

Children and sensitive details

Do not upload student names, faces, addresses, school names, student IDs, health information, or other details that identify a child. Crop or cover those details first. If we discover unnecessary identifying information, we may remove it.

Retention and deletion

Account holders can delete individual explanations, all history, or the account from settings. Operational backups rotate on a limited schedule. We may retain minimized payment, fraud-prevention, security, or legal records where reasonably necessary. Guest assignments are associated with a secure browser cookie rather than a public profile.

Security

We use encrypted transport, restricted administrative access, hashed passwords and verification codes, secure cookies, request limits, and private storage. No online service can promise absolute security.

Your choices

You may review and update profile preferences, delete history, delete the account, or ask us for help with access or correction. Browser settings can remove the guest cookie, though doing so may make a guest explanation inaccessible.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the product changes and will revise the date above. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to sophia@subschool.us.
